Banana flower, also known as banana blossom, is a highly nutritious vegetable rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals. This recipe combines the goodness of banana flower with aromatic spices to create a flavorful and wholesome dish.
Ingredients

2 tbsp Oil
1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
quarter teaspoon Hing
6 pieces Curry leaves
5 pieces Garlic Cloves
1 tablespoon Malvani masala or chili powder
half cup Soaked black peas
Salt as per taste
1 piece Banana flower
Coconut as per taste
Coriander as per taste
Tips
Ensure to remove the tough outer layers of the banana flower for a tender texture.
Adjust spice levels according to your preference.
For added flavor, you can sprinkle some lemon juice before serving.
To make Malvani masala at home, combine coriander seeds, cumin seeds, dried red chilies, peppercorns, cloves, cinnamon, and grated coconut. Dry roast and grind into a fine powder.
Directions
Peel off the outer layers of the banana flower until you reach the tender, pale inner leaves. Chop finely and soak in water (overnight)with a splash of lemon juice to prevent discoloration.
Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hing, and curry leaves. Saute until fragrant.
Add minced garlic and saute until golden brown.
Stir in Malvani masala or chili powder and soaked black peas. Saute for a few minutes.
Pour in a little water, cover, and cook for about 10 minutes until the peas are partially cooked.
Add the soaked and chopped banana flower, salt, and water. Mix well, cover, and cook until the banana flower is tender.
Garnish with fresh coconut and coriander leaves.
Serve hot with rice, bhakri, or chapati.
