Corn pakoras are a popular Indian snack, often deep-fried, but our version is air-fried for a healthier twist. This recipe combines the sweetness of corn with a blend of spices, making it a perfect appetizer or tea-time snack. Air frying reduces the fat content while still delivering that irresistible crunch.

Ingredients

2

1 cup Sweet corn kernels

1 tablespoon Ginger green chili coriander paste

1 teaspoon Salt

1 teaspoon Chaat masala

1 teaspoon Red chili powder

half teaspoon Turmeric powder

quarter cup Gram flour (besan)

Tips

For extra flavor, add finely chopped onions to the mixture.

Serve with green chutney or yogurt dip for a refreshing taste.

Ensure the pakoras are evenly spaced in the air fryer to cook evenly.

Directions

Prepare the Corn: Remove the kernels from the sweet corn cob. Ensure you have 250g / 1 cup of corn kernels.

Mix Ingredients: In a bowl, combine the corn kernels, 1 tablespoon ginger green chili coriander paste, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon chaat masala, 1 teaspoon red chili powder, and 0.5 teaspoon turmeric powder. Mix well.

Add Gram Flour: Add 0.25 cup / 30-40g gram flour (besan) to the mixture. Mix thoroughly until well combined.

Form Pakoras: Shape the mixture into small, bite-sized pakoras.

Air Frying Method: Preheat your air fryer to 180°C (356°F). Place the pakoras in the air fryer basket, ensuring they do not overlap. Air fry for 12-15 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.

Appe Pan Method: If you don't have an air fryer, heat an appe pan (paniyaram pan) and lightly grease it with oil. Place the pakoras in the pan and cook on medium heat until they are crispy and golden brown, turning occasionally.

Notes

Individuals with corn allergies should avoid this dish.
