quarter cup Honey
12 pieces Black pepper
6 pieces Cloves
1 inch Dry ginger piece
quarter teaspoon Nutmeg
Tips
Ensure the spices are roasted on low heat to avoid burning.
For children, reduce the dosage to half a teaspoon.
Always use good quality honey for the best results.
If symptoms persist for more than a week, consult a healthcare provider.
Directions
Heat a pan over low flame. Add 12 pieces black pepper and 6 pieces cloves, roasting them until aromatic. Be careful not to burn them, as this could make the mixture bitter.
Transfer the roasted spices to a pestle and mortar and allow them to cool. Once cooled, add 1 inch dry ginger piece and 0.25 tsp nutmeg. Grind all the ingredients together to form a fine powder.
In a clean jar, add 0.25 cup honey. Add the powdered spice mixture to the honey and mix well until fully combined.
Store the mixture in an airtight jar. This homemade cough syrup can be stored for up to 1 month in a cool, dark place.
Whenever you feel discomfort due to coughing, consume 1 teaspoon of this syrup. You can take it up to 3 times a day.
Notes
Individuals allergic to any of the ingredients.
Those with diabetes should use honey cautiously.
Pregnant women should consult a doctor before use.
