Ingredients

half cup Horse gram(kulith)
1 cup Water
1 tablespoon Oil
1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
4 pieces Cloves of garlic
2 pieces Green chillies, Chopped
6 pieces Curry leaves
1 piece Onion, Chopped
half teaspoon Turmeric powder
1 & half cups Water
Salt as per taste
1 piece Kokam fruit
Coriander as per taste
quarter cup Fresh coconut
Tips
Adjust the spiciness according to your preference by adding more or fewer green chilies.
You can substitute kokam fruit with tamarind for a tangier flavor.
Soaking horse gram helps reduce cooking time and aids in better digestion.
Directions
In a bowl, mix horse gram with 1 cup of water to create a runny paste. Let it sit for about 10 minutes.
Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, chopped garlic, chopped green chilies, and curry leaves. Sauté until aromatic.
Add chopped onion and turmeric powder. Sauté until onions turn translucent.
Stir in the soaked horse gram along with 1.5 cups of water. Mix well.
Add salt to taste and one kokam fruit. Let it cook for 4-5 minutes.
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and grated fresh coconut.
Serve hot with rice or roti.

Horse gram is traditionally used in Ayurveda for its diuretic properties, aiding in kidney health.
Avoid consuming horse gram if you have kidney stones or urinary tract issues without consulting a healthcare professional.
