half cup Horsegram dal - kulith/kollu
quarter cup Sesame seeds
2 tbsp Dried red chilies
1 tablespoon Chana dal
1 teaspoon Salt
3 tbsp Oil
Tips
Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to two weeks.
Pair with rice, roti, or as a spread on sandwiches.
Directions
In a pan, heat oil over medium heat. Add the dry horsegram and roast until they turn golden brown and aromatic.
Next, add the sesame seeds, dried red chilies, and chana dal. Continue roasting for a few more minutes until the sesame seeds turn golden. Be careful not to burn them.
Remove the roasted ingredients from heat and allow them to cool completely.
Once cooled, transfer the roasted ingredients to a blender or food processor. Add salt and grind to a fine powder. Adjust the consistency as per your preference.
Transfer the chutney to a serving bowl and garnish with fresh coriander leaves if desired. Enjoy it as a condiment with your meals!
